was looking at this post
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w203...03-w-pics.html

it seem pretty easy to do it yourself.. but the thing is, seems like the hole for where the jack sits is different on the newer model... the 07 i've got , the hole's sitting right besides the glove box vent hole.....is yours like that too?

that is different you have to remove the radio to plug in the cable harness. The thread is C class and it had cable already plug in you just had to exntended.

You need two tools to remove the wents above radio and to remove the heating control cover to get to screws. I did it all in 30 minutes.

do not pay to much to the dealer it is really easy and quick and no special programing needed.

Good Luck

Firstly my appologies if this question seems a little silly (I am a newbie to forum and to B, and female so not so up with the high tech stuff).
- The female jack in the glovebox would not currently be "connected" for any purpose?
- Does it need to be a 3rd gen Ipod for the method that B200Turbo has suggested?
- Will my little shuffle work if I find the right cable?
I am picking up my late 07 B180 this week. I forgot to ask the dealer if the jack meant anything.
Can't wait to get my new B!!
Cheers.

No question is silly, and welcome!

Anyway, if the 2007 model has this female connector, you should be able to connect any iPod or MP3 to it and have it play through the AUX. The only negative thing is: it will not charge the unit while you are driving, so for long trips in the Outback you will need to have a means of charging it externally.

Mercedes' own iPod adaptor kit is brilliant, and gives charging of the iPod, steering wheel iPod control, but it is really expensive. We have it (my wife insisted, and she was right to do so) and love it.

Thanks Mike, I was hoping this was the case.
I have asked my MB dealership to price the kit and installation for me. For now I am happy to plug my shuffle into the connector, but I can see that for longer trips (in the outback ) that being able to use the steering wheel controls to find songs etc would be great.
For me getting the interface kit will mean needing to upgrade my Ipod also, as I am currently quite happy with my tiny little shuffle.
I actually do live in a rural area, about 20km from closest town, but not quite classed as outback where we are!
Many thanks, cheers.

Welcome aboard Springy,
If my "corrected" count is right, you are the 3rd female on this forum and we value your input.
Keep asking questions and we will also benefit!
Cheers, Derek

Hi Derek,
Thanks for the Welcome !
I will indeed keep asking questions. It is great to be able to learn so much that my local MB dealer cannot tell me.
I thought I was better to search/ask here about the auxillary port, as I am not sure that the dealer would have been able to tell me. I have a feeling that they would have told me that it is for the CD stacker or the Ipod Interface, but not that other items will work plugged into it.
No offence to the MB dealers, they seem like nice guys, however small dealership and I think they have only had a small number of B's in there.
I am sure once I take delivery I will have plenty more to ask.
I actually had my car on trial last weekend and now we don't know how we lived without it. It has been a long week back in my old car.
Cheers, Springy
