But I presume those reflectors are a legal requirement in Canada Mike ? Are they fitted anywhere else in the world ??

Over here bikes (pedal cycles) have them fitted on the wheels of new bikes but they are usually removed within about 5 minutes of the owners getting them home.

Been required by law since 1969 in the USA and the USA's occasional lap dog, Canada. Imagine that: the Trudeau government following Nixon's lead. This must be the only time.

Hey jtcb, sorry it took me a while to reply I was away for a bit. I bought the wheels used from Eddy at Flying Tiger Racing for $2100 which included the tires. ( they had about 9000 kms on them) I thought about changing my fogs back to the stock bulbs, right now I have PIAA Ion Crystal Yellow Plasmas in there. They aren't as nice of a yellow that I wanted. I also thought about getting some sliver stars for them too.

Hey Mike, Well the ride is definitely stiffer but not as bad as I thought they would be. You end up conscientiously looking out for potholes more, I accidently ran over a small one that I didn't notice when I first got the wheels and I thought I flatted a tire, scared the #$%@ out of me. They're pretty good on the highway or any newly or nicely paved roads. You do get a lot more road noise though, I guess there's a lot less rubber to absorb the noise. The handling is better over stock.

They are Falken Ziex ZE 512's, I'm not too happy with them (noise), I'm looking at getting some Yokohama AVID W4S's from Tirerack. They're an "all-season" tire (M+S), which I think might be more for what I am looking for over a max or ultra high performance (summer) tire; quite comfy ride, good treadwear and decent wet traction/hydroplane resistance. I'm willing to give up dry traction and some cornering for what I want, I mean it's not a track car. The Falkens are "all-seasons" but they seem pretty loud, any opinions, anyone?

Does any one have the Pirelli PZero Nero tires? I was looking into getting a set of the 18” AMG rims for my B so I got some quotes from a couple of Canadian MB dealerships. The Pirelli PZero Nero is the only tire I could get on the wheels from the dealer. I called around to several local tire shops and gave them the size of the wheel, just to see what they would recommend, and they all said the PZero Nero. It also seems like this is an easier tire to get in the US than the Michelin’s that came with my car.

You're right Nadine, the 215/40ZR18 is an odd ball size. I looked at the PZero Nero's too, I wasn't sure whether to go with the M+S or just summer. The price is astronomical at any tire place I look at in Edmonton for that size, when I buy, it will be from Tirerack. I actually ask AMG what they recommended on the wheels and they said the wheels come released with Continental ContiSportContact 2 or PZero Neros. I would go for the Neros, out of those two. Because I'm looking for a quite and comfy ride over any thing else, I don't know if I'm better off going down in categories from Max Performance Summer or Ultra High Performance Summer to Ultra High Performance All Season. Any ideas?

You say you are interested in a "...quiet and comfy ride..." paramount; you will not get either with 40 series tires of any make. Period.

Here finally are a couple of pics of the LED license plate lights mod. It ends up having the same cold cathode look like the new Lexus IS 250/350.
