What I meant was that Mercedes have priced themselves so high here that it is usually the older conservative buyers who can afford them. The list price of my wifes B Turbo was over AUS$65,000 (although we didn't pay that much) and our dollar is almost equal the US$ at the moment. The dealer showrooms look like a Versace Palazzo and are intimidating to a certain extent. I had to go there 3 time before I got to have a test drive!
The dealer told me the bright colours wouldn't sell here, but if they don't import some how would they know? I think a red B200 Turbo looks every bit as hot as a Golf GTI and is much more roomy inside.
Not everyone is prepared to pay AUS$15K extra for the privledge of the 3 pointed star.
Go to a dealership in the UK & most of the models on display are Black or Silver as you say it could be that they are aimed at that 'conservative' customer & in todays cost conscious market they probably don't want to take the chance of having a forecourt full of brightly coloured cars that they might not sell
Not just Mercedes, all the manufactures produce what most people will buy. Gone are the days of factory two tone paint jobs or even the old three tone paint jobs.
Henry Ford would be happy even if all cars are not black.

Nice Car - Where can you get the chrome door handle inserts in Australia?
Greg
I bought mine off Ebay from a German retailer. Very good quality too. There are still on Ebay if you do a search. Just make sure you search for international sellers as well. Carshine.com.au sell them too from memory.
