It is freakin' cold here. I rode the bike Monday, got drowned on the way home in 7 degrees C 5 PM weather. When I hung the filthy bike up in the garage, water was POURING out of the little drain holes in the frame tubing. I rode today too and it's warmer (10 degrees, wey-hey) and so far the torrential rains are not threatening.....
500 km under my belt (that is getting a bit looser), 2500 km (and 30 lbs) to go for this year's target.
Mike!!
That's way too cold and with the rain it has to chill you to the bone.
Those wet painted lines are as slippery as ice as you probably know.... Never mind the 30 lbs.
A warm fire going and a dip in the hot tub and a warm drink will bring you back in no time!!
You really earned that one. Derek
The chrome parts I put on mine are from the accessories catalogue (but bought on ebay) and not part of a normal package. The spraying of the lower grill & fog surrounds is obviously not an M/B option. The chrome fog surrounds were the last part to be fitted. Pictures show them before final fitting they are just pushed in place here. The small round chrome rings round the fogs were on the car when bought.
There are 3 bar grills on ebay permenantly these days and about half the price of the M/B dealers (sometimes a lot less)
Keith.. I need more info. You said the fog surround is just push in place. Is that mean nothing is need for the install. The chrome just goes on top of the existing surround? Where did you buy them? Ebay? I assume they sell by pair and is cheaper than buying from MB? How much was it? I am very interested in getting it. I was parked next to a B with the same color and the chrome really stands out nicely.
This is the 2nd enquiry I have had about these so I will post my last reply for all to see
Re the foglight surrounds I bought mine back in March but have only just got round to fitting them. here is the dealers that I bought them from. I imagine that they were stock that they had in for some time & hadn't sold them as they are very expensive about £115 a pair.
A word of warning about them though. they are designed to be fitted with double sided tape (supplied already fitted to them) but this tape is very narrow under 1/4" wide and has to be fitted when the temperature is warm, also the car should not be driven for 24 hours after fitting.
I thought this was a very flimsy method of fitting and I could see one easily dropping off and the car would look awful with only 1 on.
I n conjunction with the D/S tape I used some clear silicon sealant (the type that glaziers use) which helped but the bottom corners near the lower grill still did not want to fix on properly even with something wedged against the trim overnight.
To make sure that they did not come off I decided that the safest way would be to put a small chromed screw in near the edge of the lower grill. It hardly shows & I think that the surrounds will stay on now.
I have seen these a few times on ebay now & I think mine came to about £ 18 with the carriage charge.
