Service Interval Reset

I'm getting a bit annoyed with the 'Service B' reminder ... x km overdue...
on my 200B non-turbo. Does anyone know how to reset the software?
Seems to be a closely guarded secret in the '*.de' groups as well
The instructions we had earlier from george (GSP1) were for the B150 and apparantly do not apply to the B200

cheers, guenter

ps for those contemplating their own oil change. I didn't even have to lift the car to get at the drain plug - little tight though. also make sure your extension to get the filter is at least 15" or thereabouts. The standard 10" extensions are simply too short.

Remember Guenter, I recommended 15" of extensions to reach the oil filter.
I simply add the long extension and the medium to get the necessary 15."
Don't buy tools that you don't need.

Derek, you did indeed point that out. I thought it might have been a typo on your part, who ever heard of needing a 15" extension. So, I thought I would reinforce that a 'long' extension is indeed needed. Also I would'nt do the oil drain again without lifting the car on one side.

cheers

Bill provided me with the needed information - but it still needs to be 'tuned' so that simple instructions can be given. I hope to have time this weekend to 'fiddle' with the menu and I'll then report back

cheers

ps appears that MB 'adjusts' the Service entry method somewhat depending on the country....

Bill, the day will come when most of us will want to reset the FSS.
If Guenter follows our WIS directions, I hope it's the same as we've read or is there something else we should do?
Cheers, Derek

Hi Derek

I found a way into the service screen that works. guenter is going to actually push the confirmation button soon, and report back his outcome. I am reluctant to post it on the forum until all bugs are cleared up and instructions tuned by guenter. But check your inbox.

Hi

For all those interested in resetting the service screen (after warranty period I hope ) I can send a fairly detailed procedure on doing it. The procedure appears to work on all English language cars.I was going to attach it to this post but can not see how to attach it. Click on my name to the left and above the Avatar and send an e-mail to me. Put Service screen in the subject line and I will send a PDF copy or a Word document to you if you prefer.
Your e-mail address will not be shared and all of my outgoing e-mails are scanned for virus.

This will work on B class only
