You could try to remove all the cd's and see if it's screwed against the top of the compartment.
Tried that today and there is no way into the unit even with all the cd holders out as far as they will go. Have felt all around it and cannot find any screws so I can only assume that it is screwed in from the top (ie the glovebox will have to come out to get at the screws).
Have looked at the manual and although it does not seem a major job to remove I am now wondering whether it is worth the hassle as it will only have to go back in if / when I change the car.
These days I normally run them until the warranty (3 years here) runs out as cars today (especially M/B) seem to be rather expensive to repair.
Either you lose a lot on depreciation & hopefully get a constantly newish car or you pay out on expensive repairs & maintainence.
You pays your money & takes your choice, as they say.

Hi Keith
I read an item about the IPOD interface and it requires the glove box to be removed. I also think the changer has fiber optics going to it. Maybe it would be best to keep it and fill it with lots of MP3's

It does seem odd that the entire glovebox has to be removed just to fit a cd holder...
It does explain the high prices....

Unless its just fixed on with double sided tape but it feels too solid for that. It won't budge a mm if you try & twist or move it. Ah well perhaps a job for the summer. Thanks for your input

My audio 20 of 2005 does not show any extra station display. The Audi has it and it's a nice 'extra'.

Hey what's that other hole? It looks like an aux. input (stereo mini plug)? I wish I had that is that's what it is.

Anthony

PS My 06 Turbo with base radio has the glove box ventilation in black.

Keith, I've had my glove box out and it's not a big job.
If you get the text sheet up on it, it will explain the steps involved.
Those 4 round caps in the front, cover the 4 screws with a couple more screws underneath.
A little tricky, is making sure the ventilation tube is reconnected as you push it back to the screw holes.

My little vent hole on the left is black also, without anything white, as showing in that pic.

Why do you need ventilation in the glove box anyway? Over time it will be dusty inside doesn't it..

The dust/pollen filter will keep it clean.
