Yeah on the A5 I missed the turn for the AB to Würzburg once and blew into downtown Frankfurt instead, getting quite lost....bought a road atlas at a gas station and never looked back.
I don't have a cell phone either (bad for the brain, sometimes you DON'T want to be contacted), but we do have a microwave oven and have had for decades!
Mike your scaring me now. You don't have a cell phone?????? What planet did you just get off of. EVERYONE has a cell..
Ok... We drive the same way and we both don't have cell phones, so that covers both ends of the country!! and I share your views on GPS, but I'm blessed with having a gorgeous navigator beside me.
Cheers, Derek
What are these cell phones that people talk about Eh! ????? Next people will remove the doors for bathrooms (loos?) to eliminate all privacy Sometimes you have to get away, the invention of call display should be right up there with the invention of the wheel.
Put me down as an nonuser / nonbeliever
Next people will praise the virtues of instant messaging so you get no privacy on the computer as well .
I don't have a cell phone either and, I realize that real men do not need a GPS system.
However, having spent 25 years in the Army, where I had ample opportunity to perfect my map reading skills, I developed a deep appreciation for all things cartographic. The 'NavAide" system we had in our tanks weighed about 600 lbs and was the size of a large steamer trunk and the map surface was the size of a bistro table ( for a 1:50,000 tactical map). It took about one hour to warm up, and often needed a 20 Km drive to re-calibrate the system. Because of these shortcomings, the $ 100,000 NavAide was never used, but the table was very handy for making sandwiches!
I confess, I simply had to have a GPS, to marvel at the perfection of the modern technology, the intuitive, user friendly interface and the miniaturization that has reduced the size and weight to that of a deck of cards.
Of all the gadgets I have owned, this is possibly the best $ 240, I will ever spend. I give it two
And another non mobile (cell) phone user is now going to come out of the closet.
I put my hands up to owning one but it permanently lives, turned off, in the phone drawer waiting for a the car to breakdown. (As my wife is disabled it is essential that I have immediate to the M/B rescue / recovery service) but I don't know it's number & I don't know how to text nor do I want to.
This appears to becoming the Anti Mobile Phone Users Forum.
I'm with you Bee on the best money spent aspect (only mine was £400 about $800)
I give mine 9.5 out of 10
I totally understand and accept BeeClass's very detailed explanation for the great successes of GPSs. Right now, my voice prompted model : works great.

That looks like a great solution for the mounting and installation of a GPS. The hidden power wire and the use of the radio speakers are good ideas.
To my knowledge, that option is not offered in Canada.
What is the cost $$$ in NL?
