Ash Tray / Lighter kit removal

Did anyone tried to change the Ashtray / Lighter kit in their B ?

I would like to have this (see attached photo) instead of the cupholder / Lighter.

Anyone tried ?

Thanks Daniel

I don't see anything special in the picture except the ashtray with the lid closed.

But it can be done, I've read something on the german forum about it.

Deheld,

Canadian cars (at least mine) don't come with the lid. Here is a photo (not very clear though) from what I have in mine

I think the lid cpmpartment is much better.

Aha ! Typical.

Our cars always have the lid. But we can choose to have a flat square ashtray and a light in it for 30 or 40 Euro's, or just nothing. I choose the nothing so I have a lid with a very small (but deep) storage space.

Too bad. I can imagine you want the lid, without the lid the car looks messy and unfinished. I get upset when the lid is open

It looks nicer if you have wood trim ash tray cover in that area instead of the "hole" holder.
