Black pillar panel on front door damaged/pilled on the edge
It shouldn't have happened but it did. I was washing the car. The front rims are more difficult to clean than the rear ones because of those caliber that block the access to half of the rim. I have to move the car so the rim rotate away from the caliber . I didn't look and open the front door. The edge where the black pillar panel hit the wooden edge of the garage door. Now the edge of the front pillar panel is damaged. The damage is about 1 cm.
Should I go to my dealer and have it fixed/replaced? How much do you think it'll cost?

Is this the carbon fibre look stick on panel adjacent to the front window glass that is damaged ?
They are a part that seem to be changed quite often as they then tend to blister and peel up in hot weather. Mine had to be changed on my last B. I seem to remember one member had quite a few changed.
Car goes in on Monday for another trim. This time new door seals are being fitted as well... apparently supplied direct from technical following my formal complaint.
Fingers crossed this time... Ironically the trim is not falling off right now. It was replaced 6 weeks ago and although not as well stuck down as when the car was returned it is still in place. At 6 weeks that is a record!
I like the "B", for my practical needs it suits very well and compliments the wifes Eos. But, the hassle with the drivers window foil has been a real dissapointment and highlighted other failures on the car.
Gordon what is your location it would appear that it must be very hot where you are for them to keep coming off. Mine only started peeling during hot weather on a holiday in France.
It spends most of the time parked in the garage out of the sun, or UK fog as it is this morning.
Its not temperature related but to do with the door fit and the after market fitting method. The factory asked for photo's of the film and door shut lines and as an interim measure sent details of how to adjust the door. Now they have sent to the dealer modified seals for the doors which I guess won't grip the film so much.
It took about 3 months to fail from new, there after 6 weeks has been the best that I have had. Two dealer workshops and three further MB bodyshops have had a go at replacing the films, all haven't yet managed a permanent fix.
I hope replacement 9 (or ten - I have lost count) and new seals will do the trick. I should have "backed" the car a long time ago, particularly as there have been a number of other problems past and present but it just seemed so ridiculous to get worked up over what is after all a bit of "sticky backed plastic".
My wifes EOS was delivered fault free and after three months is still fault free. She sniggers everytime she goes into the garage.... just so annoying.
Your one of us few UK members then (those Canadians seem to be taking over. The B really seems to have taken off over there, maybe M/B should now try the American market).
Yes the fit on the rubber seems quite tight I seem to remember one of the rubbers coming loose at one stage as well. On my new B the wrapping round the door seems a lot better than my last one, perhaps they have learnt, but I doubt it.
Nice car spoiled by niggly things.
