Your one of us few UK members then (those Canadians seem to be taking over. The B really seems to have taken off over there, maybe M/B should now try the American market).
Yes the fit on the rubber seems quite tight I seem to remember one of the rubbers coming loose at one stage as well. On my new B the wrapping round the door seems a lot better than my last one, perhaps they have learnt, but I doubt it.
Nice car spoiled by niggly things.
Sadly we Canadians have not had the A Class sold in our area, so we are like children in a candy store with the arrival of the B Class. Hopefully more people (with more experience) with the cars will sign up. The cars will get older and maintenance tips will be welcome eh!
Noticed you are from Surrey
I think my city might have copied it's name from yours.
Surrey, British Columbia.
Ok.. here are pics of the damage. Should I leave it or take care of it? How? If replace by dealer, how much do you think it'll cost? The closeup shots make it look more serious that it really is. The tear looks kind of like when you tear a piece of scotch tape from a tape dispenser. The sticker is wrapped around the edge of the door to the other side. The sticker on the rear doors are protected by a rubber strip. The front ones aren't.
Nasty! What would the car look like with no stickers there at all? Would the paint chip when closing/opening the door?
Try altering a photo of the side in an art package e.g. photoshop that would give a good idea of the look without the stickers. It would undoubtably alter the resale value though.
As the door closes on to the rubber I don't think it would chip. The trim is just cosmetic.
You could of course have them removed & the door edges sprayed say black (a possibility for hovercrafter to get m/b to do for his B) or there are those chrome ones made by the japanese company ( BRANEW) as featured in another thread
If I couldn't get rid of the rough edges(maybe with an exacto knife and black paint),
I'd probably want it changed and bring it back to original. (if the $ weren't crazy)

Shudder...... don't think I haven't considered this.... but dammit why only the drivers door is playing up, the other side is fine.

The sticker it self is only a few dollars (about $10 US), but the labor charge may not make it worth changing it out. I was told that the window trim had to be taken off because the sticker goes under this and it is easy to damage this piece.
Any edge that comes loose will eventually get worse as the sticker ages...the glue wears away and the plastic gets brittle. I took a hot hair dryer to an edge that came loose on mine and pressed it back into place.
Or if you have the patience and time you can always change it out yourself.

I live in hope for next week...:-)

It makes you wonder why is it only the drivers door ? it must be sticking or catching on the rubber in constant use. Is it worth trying a thin film of rubber lube to see if this stops it 'sticking'. I know you shouldn't have to on a car of this price but if it stops continual trips to the dealers it might be worth it.
PS Do you always take it back to the same dealers if so are they making a good job of the 'repair'. Is it worth taking it to another dealers.
When mine was done they said they were not happy with the way it had gone on (I could not see the problem myself) & as it had to go back a couple of weeks later due to a different part not being in stock they replaced it again. I did not have any more problems from it.
