Post those B Pictures on the Forum

A picture is worth a thousand words yet when you've got that perfect snap of your new B on a sunny day and try to upload it to the forum you get the "file to big message"

If this has happened to you and you are wondering how to resize your pictures it's worth loading the FREE Picasa2 program from Google (note M/B it works & it's free) on to your computer.

It is an excellent basic photo manipulating program that allows you to crop, sharpen, straighten and export & resize to the forums limits. These are 800 x 800 (688kb) for photo attachments & 100 x 100 (19.5kb) for Avatars (used for pictures in your personal profile).
It's easy to use and should not take up huge amounts of hard drive space like some of the major photo programs. (N.B. I do not have shares in the company).

Though a bit off topic I have submitted this article to aid some of the newer members that may have had problems with photos. I am willing to give any hints to members on this provided they are within my knowledge.

Larger files (music,Video Clips & large documents etc) up to 100mb can be uploaded free on the 'Rapidshare' site but be aware that if you are not a member they will not stay on indefinitely. You do not need to be a member to download but you are restricted to the number & size of downloads at one time.

Hope this has been of assistance.

Derek

With your picture on the main screen
Go to Export in bottom right hand corner
Image size options
resize to
change image size to say 800

Be careful to note the directory it puts the exported file in otherwise it's a bit hard to find your resized photo

It may pay to check that the size (in kb) is now below the maximum allowed by the forum

Then use the usual forum options to upload the photo

Good luck

Any problems send me a PM

For Mac users, use iPhoto's export function.
  1. Select your picture(s)
  2. From the menu choose File/Export
  3. Make sure "File Exp..." is selected in the above button list.
  4. Change the Size radio button from "Full-size images" and select"Scale images no larger than:". I like to use 640x480 for the widthxheight
  5. Hit the export button and take note of where you export the image file. I usually export it to the Desktop and later delete the image.

Another option is to use free online host like ImageShack® - Hosting . It lets you to resize to fit whatever needs.
