My average fuel display shows much better economy than I actually receive.
shows 9.3/100 while I get 9.8/100.
Can the car be recalibrated to show correct fuel usage?
How are you taking your measurments to presume that they are more accurate than the Bs computer system. If you are relying on the mileage between fill ups method it is not a particularly accurate method as other factors are involved ie filling the tank right up to the top (not recommended) and the prevailing temperature when you fill up, so I've read, affects the actual amount of fuel you can get in the tank. Take this into account with altitude (which affects engine performance) and a possible speedo (and odometer) innacuracy of possibly up to 10% (which used to be the UK max deviation) & traffic holdups and your do it yourself calculations can also become unreliable.
I feel that any form of MPG assessment can only be a rough guide.
(Unless you are doing it as they do when testing cars by using a precision measured amount of litres over an accurately measured distance).
Why worry anyway when you are driving one of the better MPG vehicles in its class.
there is nothig to worry about. 0,5 l isn't such a big inaccuracy
my previous car overrateed consuption for 2 litres. i think Bs computer is quite accurate
does anyone have any idea how the 'computer' might calculate fuel consumption? I kind of doubt that there is a flowmeter associated with the fuel delivery
ie filling the tank right up to the top (not recommended) and the prevailing temperature when you fill up, so I've read, affects the actual amount of fuel you can get in the tank. Take this into account with altitude (which affects engine performance)
Is it really true? What is the reasoning behind it? I always try to fill as full as possible. I keep filling even after the air pressure stop the pump several times. But no matter how full I try to fill, the "Range" always only show 771 km..
Is the opposite bad also? Having a low fuel tank for a long time? There are two low fuel warning screens. One warns you when you reach preserve fuel level, and another one shows a fuel pump symbol.
I have the habit of filling at the last moment. I have started the car several times when Range shows below 30km. I fear the car will die on the middle of the street. How much fuel does starting the car need?
How accurate is the Range? I understand that there is a needle in the tank to measure the volume of fuel and show it as km.. It is only accurate when the car is on a flat street.
Over-filling the tank can introduce liquid gasoline into the car's fuel vapour recovery system. This in turn can destroy the charcoal canister and other plumbing equipment and purge valves etc. This could cost $$$$
On any modern gasoline car, stop at the first click. Diesels don't have this worry, as they don't need a vapour recovery system.
Never overfill or top-up the B as Mike has said, it can cost you and the dealer is not at fault.
As a side note, I've had my B as low as 3 km showing left in the tank.(Not Recommended)

I had it once at -2... yes a negative number. When I started the car, it was showing around 5 or 6 km after a few hours of highway driving the previous day. After less than a km, on the way to the gas station, the number started going down quite fast. I was hopping I could make it to the top of the hill because the gas station was in sight down the hill. I made it but I certainly worked up a sweat...
So does overfilling affect anything relating to accelerating? I always heard something weird when accelerating hard. Like there is a second engine on the wheel. Should I be worry about?
