But of course you had an idea of how many days had passed since you last filled up.
$3.67 would fill the old bug!! That flip valve did save me a few times.
I had so much fun with that 59 bug , it was the greatest car to learn on.
1966 bug you say, last year of the 6 volt system..
As a follow up to my earlier message here, I did the return trip this morning to Abbotsford Airport - 175 Km driving at 100 - 120 KMH. with four people, one dog and lots of luggage, I averaged 7.8 litres / 100 Km. I consider this to be excellent fuel consumption as I just drove it - not trying to baby it or squeeze out the last drop of fuel. The heavy wind/rain storm last week cost a penalty of 0.6 litres/ 100 Km. I think I could get into the low 7's if I altered my driving style a little. However, I am retired and therefore, I don't have any time to spare.
The car is extremely quiet at 100 KPH and it has excellent acceleration under almost all driving conditions if the tach is near or above 2000 RPM.
Note to MB Canada: Please offer the Diesotto engine - I have already saved up my allowance for it.
I was referring to the diesotto - diesel / otto engine- a combination of both engines with remarkable performance and economy. Google 'diesotto' for more info.
"Don’t count out the petrol engine just yet according to motoring giant Mercedes-Benz, which has unveiled a new gasoline engine offering the high torque and fuel economy of a diesel together with extremely clean emissions. The company is highly optimistic, calling it “the future of the gasoline engine.” The Mercedes-Benz DiesOtto powertrain is a further development of the spark-ignition engine and includes features such as direct gasoline injection, turbocharging, variable valve timing and variable compression and it will be used in conjunction with a hybrid integrated starter/generator module. At its core lies the controlled auto ignition, a highly efficient combustion process similar to that of a diesel. The result is an 1800cc four-cylinder motor producing 238 bhp (175 kW) with torque of 400 nm while delivering 6 l/100 km (47 UK mpg, 40 US mpg) in an S-class."
My latest tank top-up has got my overall real measured-in-the-field fuel consumption down towards the 7.5 level, actually a tick over 7.55 right now. That would show as 7.1 on the car's "after reset" desplay, had I not been zeroing it at every fill.
So it's getting a little better as time goes on. I am number two of the B 200s registered at Spritverbrauch berechnen und Autokosten verwalten, and the car ahead of me is in my sights at 7.48. Once I get under 7.55, my fuel economy icon (see signature) should get down to 7.5 and officially the guy ahead of me and I will be "equal". I still want to be the actual #1 though. We'll see if I can get it any lower than 7.5....
A google search of whatever conversion you want is the easiest way to do this. If you want to convert currency it even works on a day to day currency change basis.
Google it,Chose your site (out of hundreds available) and just input your figures & it will change l/km or km/l or whatever instantly. Great stuff.
Mike!! Who really is the true #1!! Come on.... be honest!!
Mike, How did that 8.5 l/100 km trip to ski affect your overall??
On that site, anyone can fudge the #'s to be on top!!
Even if the B screen is a little generous, I can trust the larger picture. Why not have everyone stop the constant resetting and see those #'s for a good spell.
