Advantages B-Class

I have a zip file of an internal Mercedes-Benz document from early 2005, entitled "Advantages B-Class". It's an introductory document for the sales departments of dealers, 82 pages long, in colour.

If anyone would like me to email them a copy, send me a private message with your email address, and I will forward it. It's about 5.5 MB, even when zipped.

Perhaps you can host it on RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting.

Let's see if that worked:

RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

I uploaded the unzipped pdf version which is only 1 MB bigger than the zipped file.

Well found Mike it's an informative brochure (and that rapidshare seems a good way to transfer info around the forum)

Good find Mike.

After grazing through the brochure, I found things are missing on my 07 model. Is it only available in a particular package I don't know.

On page 51 picture two, the front passenger airbag indicator is missing. It is blank there. I know the c-class has it. It lights up when the passenger's seatbelt is clicked in.

Page 58 picture on the right. What is that light strip?

Page 59 right picture? What is that? Center speaker on the dash?

Many extras have been added as standard since the launch in 05. Things I like the most are the side skirt, door handle, and side mirror in body color (page 16) and oval tailpipe (page 19).

For those getting a 08 Canadian B, is the auto climate control looks like the bottom picture on page 65?

I was parked next to a B with same color as mine but with the 17" 5-spoke chromed alloy wheel, high-sheen with wheel trim (page 77 third picture). It looks nice.

I think it's used in the EU cars to show when a "Baby-safe" seat is installed in the front, you know, the kind with the sensor that disables the airbag, so you can use a rear facing baby bucket in front?

Excerpt of online EU owners manual:
Vehicles with automatic child seat recognition in the front-passenger seat*:

Front-passenger front airbag is only deployed if:
  • the front-passenger seat is occupied
  • the PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF warning lamp on the centre console is not lit. This means that a child restraint system with automatic child seat recognition* on the front-passenger seat has not been fitted to the front-passenger seat or has been fitted incorrectly

That's the indicator for the Parktronic "incpompetent parker" range sensor, which is not available here in Canada.

Yeah, the Canadian version is far better equipped than the EU base versions are.

Bit of info regarding your questions

Page 51 light is there on UK 07/08 Model & was on UK 05 Model as Mike says for child seat but also for use if you have the variomatic seat option as you cannot manually turn off the front passenger airbag, I know Iv'e been down that route in fitting the wife's mobility seat

Page 55 light display is parktronic front & rear parking sensor display
