I will be getting a set of winter tires for my car shortly, and I am trying to do some comparison shopping....I want 4 steel rims, 4 Michelin H-rated Pilot Alpin PA2 tires and hubcaps.
I have a quote for $1400, all in, which seems like a very good deal. Do any of you know what the OEM hubcaps cost in Canada? I am trying to gauge how good of a deal that is.
Thanks, that's good to know. They're cheap compared to the crappy Peugeot 405 hubcaps....which were $100 a piece in the 90s, believe it or not. An owl crashed into one of mine and cracked it. I could not believe the price!
I should have said $1582, because there are taxes on the "all in" price
Well I am looking at Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3 winter tires instead of the PA2, because their rolling resistance is 7% lower. We don't get much snow here but we do like to go skiing, and not be the usual BC idiots you see on TV whenever Vancouver gets a dusting of snow
Hey if I was a Scandinavian rally nutball I would go for 145/82-16s with mega studs....
I am running skinnier (175/70) Hakkapellittas on my Peugeot 405 right now and they're more of a pain than anything else. the normally super-sharp handling is mushed out. The roads are not snowy here 99% of the year, so I want normal handling.
I don't want to reduce force on the contact patch at the expense of shorter gearing, and besides, it's not needed in this "cool Mediterranean" biogeoclimatic zone.
