I wouldn't buy a Mercedes sedan, the reasonably-sized ones are too cramped and boring to look at. The B is a strange looking thing which is never boring to observe.
Which part of B do you consider strange looking? Before owning the B I thought the rear end looks ugly. The front grille looks too big for such a small vehicle. The high sitting position is too high. I am so used to the high position now. It feels weird when I switch to another vehicle.
I think the new C-class with sport package looks beautiful with the large star grille and AMG aprons. The standard version looks plain and boxy. It looks ugly comparing to the sport version.
The whole front end is bizarre. From some angles it looks very clean and from others the protruding headlights and fenders look strange. This complexity makes it interesting to look at, just like a smart.
I live in West Vancouver where there are a lot of B Class cars on the road.
While I do not have an accurate count, I do see several B Class even on short trips and in every main parking lot and I would estimate there must be several hundred in West Van and they seem to be gaining in popularity.
Bee you seem to be seeing more of them than we do in the UK it seems a fairly rare car over here.
Mike as we have had the MPVs over here for about 10 years now the Bs shape looks quite normal ( I must admit I laughed when I saw the originator, the first Scenic, when it appeared in about 1998 it looked like a pregnant saloon car) I think the B is probably the most elegant & stylish looking of the MPV / SUV type of vehicle.
Now if only they could get rid of those bugs.
Yesterday, I walked through the parking lot at Park Royal South ( a mid sized shopping centre ) and without even trying, I saw six ( 6 ) B Class.
The best view of the B Class is from the inside -out. Then there are the sides, the front and the rear.

My wife decided she wanted the car from the moment we drove unto the dealer's lot. Once she sat in it I knew we would get one. Best styled car around just wish they would call it a hatchback or a wagon and not a Tourer. Even the salespeople do not use the Tourer label.
I agree the best view is from the inside and with the turbo everyone else can enjoy the back side.
Is it because of the high sitting position that make you say the best view is from the inside? After driving the B, I don't want to go back to another sedan. I can see more clearly in the B than in a sedan.
I don't use the word tourer too. After all, it is really a hatchback, just oversize. People use the term crossover too. It is too big to call it a hatchback but not big enough to call it a SUV.
