That’s interesting concept. Does Avis in Victoria still rent the Smart? Now if someone rented the B Class sales would go up I’m sure. And maybe there would be more of a request for them in the States from the American tourists as well and we would finally get them here…OK…wishful thinking…either that or MB should be paying me for advertising them here, people ask me about it all the time.

I am not sure it would do too well in the states - some, like yourself would get one - but in the north east it can't compete with Subaru et al as there is no AWD, and the for the CA market - the HP is a little low - half the americans on this forum think MB should sell nothing smaller than the E-Class - and even that with only 8 Cyls

The word ‘Turbo’ gets everyone drooling around here, not one person has ever asked me about the H/P. If anything I think the price will scare most people away from it.

Car manufactures here have drilled into our heads that H/P is more important than anything else. Last week I saw gas as high as $4.09 a gallon for premium so I’m hoping that it is a matter of time before more and more and more horsepower looses some of its appeal and better engineered cars are on the market. It’s either that or good by American Big Three hello Honda, Toyota, Mazda…oh wait it’s like that around here already.

With 70 MPH speed limits everywhere, even a Citroën 2CV6 is too fast, so I have never understood the power-lust. Bizarre....

Would you also happen to know how many of these have crossed the border and are now living in the US?

I wouldn't have a clue. There can't be that many, even though it's a comforming vehicle.
