Just a couple of pics of the latest modification (brought on by some pics shown in an earlier post)
Lower grill in Bumper has been sprayed with "chromium paint" (its doesn't give a the very glossy lok of chrome but it is a very bright silver) & fog light surronds have been colour coded to the rest of the car. Total cost about £7 of paint & about 4 hours of my time (would have been less if I had assistance in removing & refitting the bumper.) Eat your heart out BRANEW
Many thanks to member GSP1 for supplying the notes / Diagrams for removing the front grill they were invaluable
It looked ok on the black B class that I used to have but I felt the black under the bumper did not really suit the car as it was not truly colour coded as per their more expensive models. It is after all only done that way so they can use standard (self coloured plastic) parts throughout the B class range & thus save money. I would also have prefered to have had colour matching 'roof strips'
Why don't you color code the wiper spray cover also?
Nice thought, but that would really get me started I'd then need to do the roof strips etc. I'm still recovering from struggling to remove that front bumper assembly. Funny years ago I would willingly spend all weekend doing work on a motor now I struggle after a couple of hours. (must be old age)
What do you think of the twin fog lights? The back housing can be color coded or leave it as black. The twin fog will stand out more if the back housing is black and on a black car. It is one of the Brabus accessory.
I am considering this mod for the new year. Any comment welcome.
They look nice
Personally think if the fog surrounds are colour coded either the bottom grill should be colour coded (aka the black cars) or that bottom grill should be silver. I think it looks odd being the only black part at the lower front
I think the best look is the single original light, whether you change the surround colour or not. It's a personal choice.
If the B had come with 2 mini-fogs paired together, like those mods, then everyone would be complaining that they should have gone with a single fog.
So often it's just to be different. But if you want to be different, then go for it. But if you ask me about more candle power all around, then I'm all for it!!
The secondary fog light is used as a daytime running light. In Germany they are allowed to have a white light only on the front, there's no requirement for lights on the side or the back of the car as daytime running lights.
In the UK Fog lights used to be for use only in " Fog or Falling Snow" they may have changed that now to poor visibility conditions but lots of drivers go around (illegally) with them on at any time during the hours of darkness, they probably have not bothered to turn them off. This is aparently one of the top 5 hates by other drivers as you get dazzled on the brow of hills & certain other locations.
