Some a$$hole hit my passenger door mirror at my workplace parking lot today. I don't know if it was an intentional or accidental hit. There is no paint damage on the door and mirror housing. Luckily the outer edge surrounding of the mirror in the Canadian version is made of plastic, otherwise there would be paint damage. I guess it was a door to mirror hit. The person must have swing his door wide open. The plastic part where it connects to the door got loose and dangle outward. I was able to pop it back in luckily.
Now I really hope folding mirror is available in the Canadian market. Those who got it installed, is it an after market item or OEM? Can you post some pics?
As per my previous post it can be fitted aftermarket but just look at the cost my dealer quoted nearly £ 1000 (thats about 2000 Canadian $) for the pair to be fitted, that would also include the switch. But member 'oldie' was quoted less for some reason but his still would have cost an arm and a leg.
yesterday i decided to fold the mirror manually (i havent got automatic folding mirrors option) to check if there is something you can do about it. and this was very bad decision. after hitting the mirror, it's folding but it's not staying in this position (it was certainly not designed to fold it this way). when i was trying to place the mirror in the primaeval position it almost tore off (it leaped from fastenings)
i'm not going to touch them anymore

That's strange because this is what used to happen. I recently tested mine (o7/08 model) and I'm sure they must have changed the design recently because I was able to restore mine back to normal.OK I would not do it on a daily basis but it would appear that the newer mirrors have overcome the problem. It does need a fair bang to push it back to it's original position.
