So with the car existing now - built at Rastatt like all B-classes - it may get onto a ship at Bremerhaven on the 20th. If it does, that ship would arrive in Halifax NS at the beginning of October....from there it goes across the continent by train, about a 10 day journey.
The serial number on my car is 301566 (the last 6 digits of the VIN), and the first B-Class had a serial number of 000001. So your serial number tells you what "number in the series" that your car is! My smart for example, was the 175000th second generation car (second generation beginning in 2003, mine was built at the end of 2004).
Mercedes-Benz announced in the early summer that the 250,000th B had been built, well now it's some ways over 301,566!
I am looking forward to the car with baited breath, and finding some undocumented features like Dyno mode etc.....
This is only my second new car in 30 years of driving. The smart was my first.
great info...mine is like 294xxx , hopefully mine is coming next week...can't wait..I hate this waiting game thing..
Go to the Wallenius-Wilhelmsen shipping website and download all the manifests for Mercedes cars to Canada (Halifax, they all go there first), cut and paste the B-Class VINs into an Excel spreadsheet et voilà!
There are some other details you would need to know, so send me a PM if you want to do this yourself. It works for any Mercedes or smart.....
So our car is on the Undine, which left Bremerhaven today and will arrive in Halifax (barring Titanic-type misadventures) on October 9th. So I hope to have it in time to drive it to the Seattle Auto Show on November 3rd or 4th.
....mine arrived on Thursday night, just picked it up this afternoon....everyone is very excited, love the sunroof, everything seems fine so far, only noticable difference is that the engine noise is a bit more than my traded in Toyota Sienna...will find time to take pictures tomorrow...
