I live in NB Canada, And it will soon be snowing here. (three months from now) but id like to know now. I plan on buying 4 winter tires. But i would like to know if anyone has driven there b200 turbo in the snow and what is it like.
I feel like it is going to be a problem, because it wet condtions even when i try not to chirp the wheels it does. it seems taking off can be a prolblem. i also have problems at low speed the gas padle seems touchy. I always drive in comfort mode never sport, i know it has traction and skid control, but i dont like to reley on them for every take off. and driving at low speed.
i am very good winter driver but i think my bclass is going to be hard to control smoothly.wish me luck..
Just buy some good winter tires and relax. This FWD car should be a lot more stable in winter conditions than any RWD car.
If you plant the pedal hard enough to get traction control intervention in wet conditions, then you need to develop some finesse for winter driving. Surely doing that in a BMW or RWD Benz would result in even more electronic histrionics.
That is the problem, it seems as if the pedal is too senstive. I push it as lightly as posible, so much so that i am sure driver behind me thinks i am asleep at the wheel. But if the road has a less than prefect surface and i hit a bump, the car starts jumping and i have to remove my foot from the pedal even if my heel is planted on the floor. its crazy senstive.. the motion of the car cause the problem too become worst.. Its like i am driving a stick shift for the first time. It would be fine if it wasnt an automatic.
Would like to help but the B 200 with MT is fine and smooth in winter. Get good winter rubber and you'll be fine. The ESP and Traction Control really work and it has dug me out when towing should have been used. Check the other postings on winter rubber. Cheers, Derek

I have a Turbo CVT in Ontario and I agree the gas pedal IS FAR too sensitive - so much that the non-turbo loaners that I have had are actually easier to drive - although the engine does seem to work a lot harder!
Regardless, I drove my turbo through Ontario winters on the standard tires and really didn't have a problem. That being said, my daily commute is 5 minutes to the train station so even in 6 inches of snow how bad can it be?? However, I too will likely buy some winter rims and tires this year - more to protect the original rims than anything else to be honest.
I guess my point is that despite the gas pedal - the car performs pretty decent on the standard tires, and will certainly be better with winter rims. The traction control works well - but unless I deliberately tried to engage - it wasn't needed much. To be honest, the car isn't that much worse than my mothers ML - or maybe it's her driving?
My wife ordered the Sport Package for her B200T. It comes with 17" width low profile tires. Even with winter tires, the 17" width low profile tire and rims will still has less traction control than 16" rims which come with the non-Turbo vehicle. I think we have to buy a narrower set of rims and winter tires to be on the safe side. Needness to say, 17" low profile winter tire will cost a bundle.
Is anyone out there want to part with their steel rims for a good prices?

Definitely go with the more narrow 16" steel rims and 205 winter tires. In the long run it's the best way to go.
I tough I should bring this tread back. First snow in Montreal today, and I foresee that the windshield design (lower than the pillar) might be a problem when snow build up. Same thing about the hood being higher.
Any experience about this ? Derek, since you got yours for a little while, did this bother you at all ?

Yes -
Especially in "wet snow" you will spend time cleaning that off - because the wipers can't push it off the side of the car
