Adding air vents to the rear of the centre console (back seats)

In another thread I asked whether anyone had tried fitting rear cabin air vents (crotch/face level) to the B-classes that do not have Thermotronic climate control.

Apparently no-one has, and yet I think it would be a useful thing to do, enhancing rear passenger comfort considerably.

I had a friend look up the part numbers for what would appear to be necessary "missing" parts:
  • Callout No. 220, A 1698 300 654 - nozzle in armrest
  • Callout No. 210, A 1698 311 046 - duct
  • Callout No. 40, A 1698 300 144 - air duct console, nozzle to console

I should check the price of these....

If anyone has access to the WIS,it would be great to see some removal procedures for this centre console, with the ducting.

I checked on the German B-Klasse forum and I was told that the THERMATIC unit has no point at which the rear ductwork to the adjustable vents could be connected, so this modification would not be possible without changing the blower unit (and probably the entire electronic control too).
