Lower Front Grill Removal

Has anyone any ideas on how to remove the lower front grill (below the number plate) & the black foglight surrounds. I imagine you may need to remove the front bumper to do this. Any clues or hints would be appeciated.

The reason is I want to do a bit of colour coding & possibly some chroming on these parts. That BRANEW in the Gallery Thread has got me envious.

I'll check on service manuals if it's separate parts and can be removed...

OK here we are.. yes as it seems in the first document this grill can be removed. It is mentioned as front cover(part no 6) and in step 11 says "unclip front cover". i attached both documents referring to front bumper and hope it helps... If you make any modification on this, please post some photos!

It would probably be very difficult (and expensive) to get that BRANEW grill so I thouhgt I would try and Chrome Spray mine. (If it doesn't work I will colour code it with the M/B Polar Silver or go back to black) I have ordered the spray & undercoat so it will be a project for September. Didn't know they did these grills on ebay they are certainly not on the UK site.

Thanks gsp1 for the info will print that out & study before commencement of work. (Where did you get your manual ??)

If any one is interested in the front lips & rear body kit (new & genuine M/B but not the roof spolier) 1 is available at the moment on the UK ebay site they failed to sell last week at £18 each + £12 carriage but they have been relisted starting atabout £10 + carriage its a bargain for someone who wants this bodykit.
I am unable to bid for them for myself (or anyone else) as I may be away for a few days.

This info is from WIS system which has on DVD's all the service information on Mercedes cars... many people have asked for this and its also available on ebay but i couldn't find a version including our b class. Thanks to sharing i found one but as i have explained to some people i cannot upload this because its huge for my line's capacity...despite this i would be glad if i could help anyone here by providing pdfs with the info required until i find a way to upload it somewhere...

Also a BIG THANKS to all you guys as i see that i have found a very good forum on which people exchange their thoughts, problems, opinions, links and other stuff because from Mercedes we have not ANY help on our problems...end especially a real customer care!

gsp1, is this the dvd you are using? It mentions the date up to July 2005 only. What about 2006 and beyond? Has the B changed a lot in terms of diagrams and manuals, and instructions? Where did you get/buy it?

I think that this version that you mentioned is the same with mine... As i see in the "what's new" section i see only dates up to 06/2005. Probably on ebay exists now this version because i was looking for it about 1 year ago...(as old as my car is!)...

I found it from a local university with high speed lines...

You only need to ask the seller if B-Class is included on this version... After this i think its ok... must exist very few updated sections or bulletins..

Cheers
