Hi there. My B has 3700km but its 1 year old already. As i did with my previous cars i went to the service and asked what to do... they just told me to make the small service which cost about 150euro and they replaced oils oil filter, air filter and put some water...
I wonder.. is it needed to go to the service if ASSYST PLUS says nothing about it? Mine was writing about 18000km left for Service A and now says 15000Km left for Service D... Also in the manual says that with this system service is done ONLY when the computer thinks is the right time for the car, depending on the time period, mileage temperatures and the character of driving.. what is all this about?
Any service experience? please i am looking forward to hear your opinions so i decide when its needed to go again to the service...
P.S. "Mobilo Life" Support programm says that its efective only if you follow the service info as displayed by ASSYST and done on authorized service...but these guys wrote nothing on my service book for this service!!!
Hi GSP
You probably could have waited till the service indicator said service due & yes probably 3700 km is a bit early for the service but at least you've got all those nasty bits of metal out of your engine left in after the manufacturing process. As I mentioned in another post we always used to do the first oil change at about 750-1000 miles (say about 1200-1600 km)
After my first service (about 18000 miles) the counter also said service D & I think that was about 12,000 miles ahead. (I think the D service has some work done on the air con filters as well).
Mind you your service was very reasonable mine was about £270 probably about €400.
If i were you from now on I would go when the service says its due.
(I don't know if the B class is the same as the A class in this but my friend ,who like you only used to do low mileage, had a number of days to service come up on the display on his A class).
I should go back and demand that your service book is stamped if not write & complain to Mercedes that they have not stamped it & keep a copy of your letter & their reply.
that was interesting, had my B170 for one year last month, and we have covered the grand total of 1780 miles, just had a look when the service is due and it tells me in about 11000 miles, so it could be years yet ....
thanks for your info. Probably i'll have to go again and i will ask for the filling of the book. And i'll have to go again because i complained for abnormal worn of the back left disc brake. It took them 4 and 1/2 hours to exchange the oil and take some photos of the disc brakes to tell me in the end that they decided to replace them.
As soon as i go i'll let you know and i will also ask them about the service. Now my problem is that after 15000 km (or less) ASSYST will warn about service D although the REAL km will be 18700 on which service A should take place... (of course this will may be after 2 or more years!! with the distances that i cover.. he he...)

Ikelos i think that kdbcom is very right! You should go to the service ONLY when ASSYST says so!!! I read some service info for our cars and the specifications of the factory oils says they can handle 20000km and after this every 15000 if you use Mercedes recommended oils. Also in the service booklet it says clearly: "ASSYST plus is an advanced computerized system which calculate various variables to be sure that you make a service ONLY WHEN ITS NEEDED"
OK, what i did was not bad for the car but was bad for my pocket(!). And i could use the almost new (fully synthetic) oils to have them on my bike for the next 5-6 services , ha ha ha!! (Its a 125cc yamaha which needs only 750cc of oil...) Plus the fact that they replaced the AIR FILTER !!! (for 3700 km?????!!!!!!) In the manual says on the first 40000km!
On my service they only changed the oil & oil filter & as have stated earlier the oil cost around £80 (about €120)
It would have been far worse for your pocket had you lived in the UK
