I really like this feature on my b-class - nobody is unalbe to open the doors from the outside when I am standing on lightings, its good protect from thieves, but I was always wondering how emergency services can open the car after accident and a few days ago I had a chance to see how it works...
i was driving the car and haven't noticed that there is a threshold (I hope you know what i'm writing about - i mean the thing which is lying on the road to slow down the cars - i dont know how it is called in english, sorry ), so i've passed through it going about 70 km/h. becasue of that bump all doors opened - very clever machine

In the UK they are called a Speed Hump or Speed Bump or Traffic Calming Device & they are in towns everywhere.
Yes that autolocking device does make a very reassuring clunk when it kicks in and locks all the doors. I have not had one open up on me though.
True, the dealer also told me that when the airbags deploy the doors are automatically opened.
And, MB designs the door as such that they can always be opened by rescuers. The doors are designed to fold to the outside of the car and not to the inside, so they won't jam after a crash.
The handles are designed to allow the door to be pulled out by the handles. It should be possible to lift a Mercedes off the ground by the doorhandles.
It's called PRE-SAFE, PERFORM-SAFE and POST-SAFE if I am correct.
We all know presafe, PERFORM-SAFE is the folding and such during the crash, POST-SAFE is leaving the car in such a state after the crash that it can easily be opened by rescuers and such.
