The feature that jkalpin refers to is slightly different to this. The cluster can also be programmed to show not only the Km's remaining but also the amount of fuel left in the tank in litres. I had Miroj do the programming on my vehicle to activate this feature.

Can you tell me how to program it to show litre of gas remaining?
Speaking of ThermoTronic, I don't know if the Canadian B has it or not.. I notice there is a small vent thing near the air conditioner switch. What is it for?

There is another small vent between the bulbs on the ceiling. They both have a misterious purpose.
It would be really kind if Miroj could tell us what to change in the computer in order to show the litre of gas.... Thanks in advance!
Has any one worked out if the air con is on or off by default as on my old B (and the dealer told me this) it seemed to go off when you pushed the button and the red light came on (ie on by default ) but on the new car it seems that sometimes its on when you push the button and red light comes on yet other times it seems to be the other way round . Its almost as if it toggles from one mode to the other. Weird !
The thermotronic is the electronically controlled ac. Where you set a temperature using a up and down arrow, it has a little display. The one with the three wheel thingies is a ac but no thermotronic.
The slits in the thermotronic controls are for measuring the cabin temperature. After all you set the inside temp, so the car has to measure this.
The slits on the roof are where the microphones for the (exceptionally good but expensive) carkit are located.

Weird as it sounds, this is different on some models. So what you see is true.
The easy way is remembering that when you demistify the front window using the special defog key, the AC is always turned on. So, just press the button and look if the light goes on or off.
Between the 3 rotary knobs which control the air con and so on, there are a couple of buttons, one has a picture of a car on it with a curved arrow on it, that is the recirculate thingy.

When the a/c is on the red light above it is alight on the thermotronic
why you can switch the aircon on and off is probably to save fuel.
