Never too soon to worry about that.... I'd like to get a set of steel rims for my B200 but I'm not particularly interested in paying top dollar to the dealer for a set of these. Moreover, I'd like to fit 195//65/15 tyres which will be much better than the standard 205/55/16 IIRC. will there be problems with the lug bolts I wonder. Has anyone looked into this?
quite simply because of the massive salt on our roads from Dec to April... that
mixed water/slush makes for lots of corrosion.... especially the wheels
I also have steel rims for the winter tyres. It keeps the alloy ones nice and clean in the winter .
I use the original MB steel wheels that came with the car, the alloy's were fitted by the dealer.
The MB steel rims also uses the same bolts as the alloy wheels, so no risk of damaging the car when swapping wheels.
When you use different steel wheels you want to use different bolts.
I have no choice than to put snow tires in the winter instead of using the low profile 17" tire and 10 spokes wheel that come with the Sport Package option.
Anyone know how much the factory steel rim cost, thinking of using 16" wheel as it is easy to fit it with snow tire than on a 17" rim.
btw Can any C-Class wheel fit B-Class? I know the A-Class and B-Class wheel are interchangabe but we don't have A-Class in Canada. So if any C-Class wheel can fit then will go after used C-Class wheel instead of the ugly steel wheel. Just a thought.
Winter is 4-5 months off so have time to source out the best deal.
yes, Philip, I'd also be interested to find out if 15" or 16" rims from C or E class will fit the B, a used alloy would be just the ticket for sure. I will check with dealer and see what he has to say....

My experience with part department in the dealership to get confirmation on interchanging wheels for different model is not good. They will not confirm cause there is liability reason that even if the swap is possible, they will decline to comment.
That happened to me when I use a set of 98 CLK rims for winter tires for my 96 E class. It fits fine but dealer told me that it will not work. I use another set of S-class rims from a 2000 vehicle and mouted them on my 99 S class. It fits well and the dealer again will not comment that its possible. I will be surprise that the guy in the part department can be helpful. However, if you have a knowledgable mechanic who is willing to try mounting a set of C-class rims on a B-class vehicle and make sure that there is enough clearence for the turning circle and the type of bolts to mount the C-class rims, that is the most reliable way.
I will not go for the 15", have to be 16". Sport model come with 17" but will be an overkill for winter tires.
Thanks fof the information. Looks like A and B class rims are the closest in terms of interchangability. C class offset is quite difference than the B based on the chart info.
