There is no functional reason for the 3 line and 4 line grill. It is solely for cosmetic look. 3 line does give the turbo a sportier look. I have premium package on a non-turbo "with exterior chrome accents on the grille". It gives a more luxurious look. If one doesn't opt for the premium package on non-turbo, it will have the same look as the turbo. BTW, does "exterior chrome accents on the grille" available on the turbo? I don't see the line mention in the turbo's premium package.
As for the slot, I really have no idea what it is for exactly. I myself use it as a gum holder.

B200 Premium Package
Settle back in the heated front seats of a B200 equipped with the Premium Package and watch the heads turn as you take it to the street. With exterior chrome accents on the grille, rain-sensing windshield wipers, illuminated visor vanity mirrors, cruise control, auto-dimming mirrors and our exterior Sight & Light Package, this vehicle commands attention.

# Storage net on front seatbacks
# Rain sensing windshield wipers
# Cruise control
# Illuminated visor vanity mirrors
# Heated front seats
# Interior lighting package
# Exterior sight and light package
# Seat comfort package
I have a Non-Turbo B200 without the Premium Package and I have chrome on my grill. All the 2007 B-Class models in Canada now include the Exterior Chrome Accent package as standard equipment. I think they added a bunch of upgrades to the Non-Turbo model in 2007 to make it more attractive.
I've had my car for about 2 weeks and I'm extremely pleased. As stated earlier, I ended up buying the Non-Turbo version. The only upgrades I included were the autotronic transmission, metallic paint (Comet Grey) and heated seats. They are running an amazing deal on the car right now in Toronto. I ended up getting 2.5% lease financing (36 months), $1500 discount off of list price and they also had a promotion where they pay your first two months lease payments. The other really killer thing is that they are giving 58% lease end residuals on the 36 month lease which makes this car very, very inexpensive on a lease. Out the door, my payment is $465 /m + taxes Canadian$ ($218 British Pounds for my friends across the pond).
The car is fun to drive. I traded in a 2004 Jaguar X-Type for the B-Class and I think the B-Class is actually a bit smoother and quieter than the Jag. The Non-Turbo model won't tear up any racetracks but its peppy enough for city traffic and like I said....its very quiet.
The only thing thats bugging me right now is that I really want to get the iPod interface kit installed. The dealer wants to charge me close to $800 and this seems very high. Its definitely a very tightly integrated solution (probably one of the best iPod solutions out there) but $800 can buy you two iPods. I might still do it because I didn't get the external CD changer and I don't like changing CDs. Any thoughts?

I have the chrome 4 slat grill on my diesel. I think that it looks more distinguished than the 3 slate grill since I have normal suspension.
The 3 slate looks very nice on a lowered sport-suspension B-Class.
It would be nice to have a 3 slat grill with holes in the slates, like on the ML-Class....
The grill can be easily swapped for a different one, they can be bouht on ebay.
