Canadian Tire 3.5 ton Michelin hydraulic jack on special twice a year. It slips right under my work bench and therefore out of sight.
It doesn't get any easier or safer than that!!
Always torque your wheel bolts to 130 Nm or 95 ft/lbs. Good luck.
I'm with you on this one Derek, before the days of the body hoist, it always used to be a hydraulic jack in conjunction with Axle stands (a must for safety reasons) or a decent pair of ramps (I like the idea of your ramp extns Derek) depending on the job in hand.
Never ever work on a car with a jack alone ( the only exception to this is for a puncture at the roadside & the subsequent wheelchange but even then always keep out of the wheelarch and always use the supplied M/B wheel chock.)
PS We have had & used ramps for years in the UK usually made out of 1" angle iron (funny ours are usually blue like a lot of our workshop tools uused to be eg lathes ,drills etc.)
I use Mobil 1 0w40 and 5w30 (full synthetic or extended performance) depending on the seasons.
My B is always garaged and never gets hit with the big outdoor extremes.
Both of these oils cover almost anything Canada can throw at the B.
I'm surprised that there is "absolutely" no oil consumption after 6000 or 7000 km on some of your B's. I haven't checked my notes but I have added some oil between oil changes.
Normal running requires some oil consumption!
Has anyone else had to add some oil yet?
Cheers, Derek

Yes I've added oil to mine (both of my Bs have used some) it's probably better if it's using some oil as a least the sump is getting refreshed with new oil every so often.
It doesn't seem to use as much oil as some cars I have owned though. Can't give exact mile to litre amount as I haven't logged this.
Hi Derek
Checked oil level today ( first time for a while ) and the oil finally has some colour to it making it easy to read. After last change 3000 KM ago the level has not gone down in the least. Checked it after the oil change and it was slightly above the full mark and it sits there today.
Planning to do oil change 6 months after the last and was going to suck the oil out with a pump. Notice that you drain the oil, have you tried a pump??
Watch that high level Bill M/B are very wary about the B being overfilled. I complained about mine being about only 3/4 full after a service & they took some out saying it was to high even then. They did give me a quart to top up with though. It can damage the oilseals & cat convertor.
My over the full mark I should have said it was just a hair over the mark, if that, and still no where at the top of the red plastic. When I do my own changes I usually leave the level below the max mark on all cars, worried about the oil frothing up. I wonder if only Diesel engines are so touchy.
Had my oil changed recently in my SAAB at a quick oil change garage and it ran like a dog. Checked the oil level and it was at least 1 1/2 liters over filled, had them drain some and purring like a kitten once again. No damage done!
Zero measurable consumption in the B 200 after 7700 km. My smart never needs a top-up either, at 10,000 km between services (and it starts out halfway up the operating range).
I figure the smart _might_ be using up to 100 mL of oil in 10,000 km.
Yes, keep the oil level in the middle of the range.
I use a Pela oil extractor on the smart and will do on the B.
