I am curious about the rear fender liners. The weather has been too bad to poke around in there much, but do they cause abrasion on the inner steel panels, or trap dirt behind them? I need to have a look at that. It's been salt heaven here for the past week and I've been washing the car every day.
Mike, I've had them out to apply a coat of cavity wax.
I live on a silty, sandy and dusty road.
It drives me crazy on the dry days as I creep along and I can never avoid the silt collecting on the back.
But even with that, there is no dirt collecting when I've removed the rear liners.
So they do a good job of protecting and I haven't seen any abrasion on the painted lip. Many other cars that are similar to the B don't have that extra level of protection.
Thanks Derek, that's a relief. I will have to get the old Waxoyl out next summer and do the smart and B. The poor smart has had a very cursory application of Waxoyl. My cavity sprayer is plugged with waxoyl and I don't know how to free it up....
Mike, I've done 99% of my application of cavity wax by brush(less wastage). The MB dealer also sells spray cans as I've described earlier with more detail and products listed.
I'm still hoping to see some pics of inner hoods from around mid 2007.
It would be nice to know when the new hood design was introduced.
Anyone out there willing to post their mid 2007 inner hood pics???
Thanks for those pics.Mike. It seems that they applied a bead of caulking very close to the drain opening.
Make sure that the drain is open on both sides because water does collect on occasion at that exact drain point!
You received your B in early 2007 is that right?
Anyone else out there willing to post your inner hood pics from early or mid 2007?
Remember we're trying to establish when they started installing the new hood design.
