Yuna do you mean changing your existing bulbs to higher output ones or replacing a blown bi-xenon one. (To replace normal bulb for bi-zenon is a fairly major job and could involve other pieces of kit like auto height adjusters & headlamp washing kits to make it street legal this depends on your local / country regulations )

Info is available on changing bulbs if this is what you are after.

Hi

Are you thinking of buying an after market HID kit and replacing your bulbs??

The replacement kits do not provide proper reflectors to aim the light. The reflectors in a filament lighting system can not be used with a gas discharge bulb. The focal points are to different. Use a search engine and find out why. If you are looking for the HID effect there are H7 bulbs around that can mimic the colour, usually with shorter life expectancies and sometimes less light.

The HID kits might appear brighter but the light is not concentrated on the road and can be dangerous to other cars.

Thanks Bill,
I was considering this after-market up-grade to HID. I will have to research this some more.
Cheers, Derek

Headlamp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scroll down to "HID light sources (xenon and bi-xenon)" where the focus problem is discussed.

It's true the optics in a halogen projector aren't the same as a HID projector, however some people have gotten good results using a kit in a halogen projector. The thing is, it varies car to car and kit to kit, not all projectors are the same and not all bulbs in each kit are the same. By good results I mean, a sharp cutoff and no glare. I'll try and post the website where they list the cars that were successful and the ones that were aweful, the B wasn't included in the list. What we need is someone who's had a successful hid conversion in the B, post what kit was used. (Even then, bulb quality still varies during time of manufacture) OR someone who has done an OEM HID retrofit and knows the part numbers and cost from MB.
