I just noticed that I have rear fog lights, right below the reverse light. However, only the driver side lights up. I've seen this before in VWs and Audis. But, I can see the passenger side also has a bulb in there but it does not light up. Any suggestions as to how to make the other side light up as well?
I've looked in the fuse box below the footwell to see if it's cut off from there, but can't find any reference about it. I can't even find the fuses for the head lights. That fuse chart that MB has is really bad.
Another thing I'm thinking is that the socket on the passenger side is not actually wired and the bulb I'm seeing is a spare one. I remember the manual talking about spare bulbs but I can't seem to find it in the car, could that be it?
I think it is something to do with EU regulations about having a fog light on the drivers side only.
I seem to remember on one of the earlier threads reference to this and a member said he would give info if anyone was interested.
The thread was posted some months ago though.
I would have thought the wiring loom should be wired up for both sides as abroad they would need the other side alight.
Don't know if you would get a fault indication up if you had both bulbs working knowing the sophistication of the electrical system.
Let us know if you get it working please
Why not replace the foglight with a 25W/5W double light.
And extend the rearlights to the 5W we placed in the foglights.
You would keep the normal foglights but the rearlights would be twice as wide.
This would make the B more mature since most Mercedes' have broad (double) rearlights.
Don't think the bulb sockets would take the double bulb & think the on board computer might not be happy with this arrangement either. Check the link I mentioned earlier (if you can find it ) and ask the member that posted it, he said he would give info about the 2 fog light mod if requested.
