Well I get about 3.1-3.2 L/100 in my smart cruising at 85-90 on my commute, which is 13-14% less than the "official" highway rating. 6.7*.87 = 5.8
Also, the German Magazine Auto Bild tested a B 200 in 2005 and found that on their loop, the "minimum fuel consumption" was 5.8 L/100 km.
So I think I should be able to do it. We don't get much wind here!
Hi Mike, You might be right. I did a run yesterday and tried to do as you said and yes I averaged 5.8 for approx. 100 km distance at 80 to 85 kph. Calm and very humid and fresh 'Moobil' 1 oil. So keep us posted as the big day nears! Cheers, Derek

Here is the road test where I got the L/100 figures for the B 200 from:
Notice that the B finished 5th of 5 cars in the overall ranking....but if you look at the subjective ratings closely, the price is what made all the difference.
Just try to buy one of the others in Canada (excepting the useless Mazda 4-seater, or 5/6 seater with half/no trunk.
Our B 200 in Canada is $7000 cheaper than the pre-tax price of a similarly-equipped one in Europe, so the price is less of a bother here
I've about 22,000Km and have changed the oil twice already. The engine seems to be wearing in nicely because my 'fueel' consumption is quite improved from last year. Anybody else notice a difference? My service 'B' is indicated in 3,100km which would have been my theoretical first oil change. In Canada, there is no service 'A' indicated from new.

Looking at Mercedes Canada web site it appears that the CVT turbo gets better fuel economy in the city that the manual transmission and only slightly poorer on the highway.
City manual 10.2/100 versus automatic at 9.5/100
In talking to the dealer it appears the fuel usage given by the car computer is not very accurate. It shows better than you really get, up to 10% better. My car is about 5% out
Interesting....the B 200 does 9.2 whether manual or automatic on the TC city test, and the manual is 0.5 L/100 better than the CVT on the highway....at 6.7. I will aim to better that by quite a bit, I think, when my car is broken in.
