Mine "eats" 9.3L/100Km with most driving in town.. I think its to high but probably due to 1498cc engine which makes more efforts to drag the heavy skeleton!
How much octane do you use? I find here super unleaded with 98 octanes. And normal unleaded with 96. Till now i use super.
On my 200 CDI Diesel now I seem to be getting about 37 MPG with a mixture of town & country & about 42 MPG on a long run 4 up + luggage & about 50 MPG on a constant (70MPH) Motorway cruise with a mileage reading of 1,300 miles on the clock. I may get a bit more as the engine gets fully run in say at about 5,000 miles.
98 octanes? The max I have filled is 92. I think the highest available in my area is 94 only.
Here in Canada our reg. petrol(gas) is 87 octane & super is 91 & a few places have 94 octane. To better understand octane ratings try Google ('fueel' 'r+m')or fuel octanes. In the USA the octane is always a bit higher for super.

Yes there's also available Shell's Vpower with 100 octanes and other brands also but its very expensive... Todays prices include 100octanes for about 1,5 euro per liter (1 gallon = 7,7$) , 98 for about 1,3 euro and 95-96 for the best price of 1 euro per liter
I always understood that you were wasting money by using the highest octane fuels unless your motor was tuned to use it. Obviously if you are getting 'pinking' switch to a higher octane. But perhaps the sophisticated engine management systems in todays cars sort out this of type of fuel / timing problem automatically.
In addition to the octane value of the fuel, the additives/quality also has a bearing on the fuel consumption. The more expensive brands do seem to have better MPG.
Some years ago I (long term) compared Jet (a UK cheapo brand) with Shell, it was just about 10 percent worse in economy. I would think that supermarket fuel would fall in the same category, providing it hasn't wrecked the engine in the meantime.
I just just drove from Toronto to New York City and back again (about 1,500 kms). While in the USA I switched the dash computer from kilometers to miles. On the Canadian side I was getting 7.9 L/100 km. When I switched to miles it read 33.3 mpg. Anyone know if the non-metric mileage refers to USA gallons or Imperial (Canadian/British) gallons?? I would presume its Imperial because they don't sell this car in the USA...but not sure.
In case anyone is curious, I got this mileage driving a non-turbo B200 using unleaded premium gas.
