Did a 5000 KM test on the computer..

The fuel economy I obtained and the computer showed a difference of 2.5%,,,the car showed better naturally.

I use 94 octane fuel almost all the time.

From now on I will only travel downhill and or tailgate large semi-trailers or drive on days with huge tail-winds!

I have to get these #'s down!!

Derek

I think you post those numbers just to make the rest of us crazy !!! Rumor is that you jack the wheels up and speed along in the comfort of your driveway Also talk that you don' tailgate semis but hook up a chain to them. The only way I can get those results is in a free fall off a local mountain.

Better results than any hybrid. It has to be the gas in Quebec, the government must be trying to win your votes next election

Interesting, mine seems to be more optimistic, at around 0.4 or 0.5 L/100 km differential. However, the odometer under-reads by about 1% on my car (in miles at least). So that is a countervailing influence if we really want to get picky!

When I drive the car to work and back I seem to get about 5.8 L/100 on the OBC, sometimes 5.6. When my daughter drives it, it goes all to hell!

Kieth and Bill,

You're both right but how did I know that you'd catch me. It cost me a fortune to air lift the B by helicopter while in Virginia and then coast down those long hills but it did get the #'s down.
Have a great one guys!

Derek

ps: We never see 94 where I am and I always fill with 91
pps: Keith can call me Fred from now on!!

I think that every sensor on the car has a plus or minus tolerance of 5% (educated guess, typical of most electronic devices) that tend to average out between cars. It's possible one car has all sensors above range and an other all below range. Also tire pressure and tire wear affect the diameter of the wheel giving more variances. The software should have a scaling factor that can be changed to make the readings more accurate, but it has been left out.

I have not driven ( the B ) through one of the speedometer check areas in the U.S., but in the past I always won the race. My odometer would show 10 miles had past well before the markers on the road did. I think that was a bad thing, one car showed 10.5 for each 10 miles actually driven.
