guys, wow youre getting great mileage from your b200 if you are sub 7L/100.
I think my (actually the wifes car) b200 turbo is getting around 9.5/100 city, actually not too bad for a 4 door heavy car.
My 20 year old 3cyl turbo gets about 6.5/100 city, I use it as my winter snow mobile.
summer time I drive a 350z it gets 12/100 city still not too bad considering almost 300hp
The last tank (filled in Santa Cruz CA) was 7.24 L/100 km, doing some heavy urban driving in San Francisco too, not bad considering that. This trip is probably not going to affect the overall fuel economy much. I had naively been hoping beforehand that it would improve my lifetime figures......
That would be nice! We're off to Las Vegas tomorrow and the following day we'll see the Grand Canyon...then it's homeward bound. The car is getting a few interested looks from other drivers in California.
who would have thought when I started this thread way back in 06 it would still be going, anyway, the fuel does not seeem to last any longer than it did then, maybe it is the amount of miles I have done, the car is 2 years old now, and the total miles are 3300.
We're nearly at the Grand Canyon now and I'll fill it Friday AM....but it'll be a worse result, possibly as high as 8 L/100, due to 125 km/h cruising up to an altitude of 2200 metres.....still, it's good considering the load. The turbo engine would be nice for the LONG gradients at high elevation, but gearing down to 4th gets it on the boil on the steeper hills.
Got to the back on Vancouver Island Sunday PM......hmmmmm
1400+ km of driving at 125 km/h in high mountains through Arizona and Utah, to Idaho netted 6.9 L/100 km. Excellent result, as ....once again.....the car is loaded to GVW. It's better than I expected, by about 1 L/100.
I managed to overfill the car once (faulty pump) bit the vapour recovery system was not affected. The tank took 51 L and it was on 1/4 tank at the car's gas gauge right before the fill!
Today we struggled against a massive headwind (60 km/h I would guess) from S. Idaho to S. WA, over 400 km. This next tank won't be as good.
We're in Kennewick WA tonight, so it seems that we should be home by late Sunday PM!!
