Derek, 5.5 liters is a great result and you have established a new benchmark for us to aim for.
I somehow do not think you achieved this at 110 KPH and 3000 RPM as shown in the photo? How about on cruise control at 90 or 100 KPH? What tire pressure and what gas were you using? What load was in the car? Tail wind? Air conditioner off? We will need a lot of answers if we are to effectively match your outstanding results.
I was driving on the 81 to Virginia and it was quite busy and with many 55 mph and alternating 65 mph zones.
To get an 88 or 91 kph average(as was the case), you have to drive considerably faster than your average showing.
I used the cruise a lot but construction was down to one lane in many areas and delays were there also with the many cities and afternoon traffic volume.
The 81 has huge rolling grades and not flat at all.
The Skyline Drive alternates between 600 ft and 3500 ft many times and is not ideal if you're going for great gas consumption.
The wind was not a factor and kind of coming from the side most of the day.
The gas was their premium 93 octane and any brand was the brand of choice.(I don't remember)
The B was semi-loaded with my wife and 2 bikes and hiking and traveling gear for a week+ and some food.
Air was on in the afternoon and the max temp was 29.5C.
At one point the screen was showing 1007 clicks left in the fuel tank but the camera wasn't within reach.
I'll try to be better prepared the next time.
Cheers, Derek

Yes but Keith we don't always drive like that. The B forum is very important to me and only the best pics will do.
You have to learn these driving techniques with a cup of strong very hot coffee in one hand and drippy donuts in the other. It's a long drive and I'm sure that you don't want me to starve, do you??

It is safe to drive in Canada, as Derek points out he uses BOTH knees to keep in control
We also have learned why Derek prowls around the detailing forum with coffee, donuts and a camera all being juggled. Hopefully he was careful and no hot coffee was spilled, other wise his bike trip / romantic getaway would have been spoiled.
Thanks Bill,
Yes, I use both knees, of coarse that's when I'm not playing kneeies with my wife.(my wife would say"too much information")
How did you know that this was a romantic getaway? Yes it's true!!!
I'm still on an extended honeymoon. This weekend was Vermont but we took the zoom...zoom.
Cheers, Derek

I think that I speak for most of us (at least those who are honest ) when I say , any time you travel anywhere away from home you are hopeful of a romantic weekend The thing that puzzles me is the low average speed you received, most of us would have the pedal to the floor in anticipation.
Lets hope that everyone has a lifetime honeymoon, life is to short otherwise.
I had better luck with the zoom...zoom(Audi) . Ouch!!Ouch!! Too much information again...As you said Bill...I hope everyone had a great Victoria weekend.
Cheers, Derek
ps. the saddle sores are healing nicely.

I got under 6 on the OBC driving home this evening (short drive, couldn't get better than 5.6 in those conditions, cold start excluded, in reality: 6.0 or 6.1 of course) but I do look forward to the day when I can take a LONG road trip at 90 km/h in this car. A 1000 km tank should be possible, but maybe only when driving 80
My MPG or L/100 km tomorrow will be a lot better than that.
No, I am not taking the smart, which would be at maybe 3.1 L/100 km (actual, not optimistic Mercedes OBC) on a careful commute.
I am taking the bicycle to work tomorrow, the first ride of the season for me. I missed a month when I was in Europe and then I had a bad cold for a week. Now the weather is better, so the cars will be driveway queens (well the smart and 404 are garage queens) most of the time, unless my daughter Jenn takes one or the other cruising. Which she will.
