There appear to be some serious quality issues appearing with this model (B Class)
I seem to remember being told when I bought mine that M/B had sorted out the reliability problems that they had been having over the past few years.
Some joke !!!

No recall as of yet in UK, is there a different version of the switch fitted on the left & right hand drive version I wonder ?.
I find on my wipers that if they are left in the Auto Wipe / intermittent position when you park & turn the engine off that when you start up, say on the next day, I have to turn the wipers off & then on again to get them to auto wipe.
ie they won't automatically come on after starting the car up even if the switch is in the correct position. Most weird.

It is electrical problem switch gets worn by turning steering wheel an slowly starts causing problems. So wires get damaged.

However it does rather defeat the object of having Auto wipers if you have to clean the screen before they work. hey ho. There were none of these problems with the Scenic's Auto wipers. Mercedes quality again !!!

Yes mine has just arrived looks like thev've left the UK to last.
It is for the combination switch on the steering column.
Recall is reference No P086 but they say "some vehicles" so it may only be the earlier models that are affected. (Mine is end of August 05)
