Derek,

I think that Copper-grease can be applied to treads without any risk of them loosening. But, as for all things, apply with moderation

And no, the space saver is an option here. We have the tire-fit-kit and no space-saver. And as a plus loads of extra space under the floor.
Our country is very small so we really don't need a space saver, the mainpart of our country is one big metropole with infrastructure everywhere.
I would like the tire though, it would give me a safe feeling on a skiing vacation but the dealer charged some 300.- Euro's for it.

Thanks, and while you're at it. Bring some fuel too.
We pay (on average) 1,40 Euro per liter of regular fuel.
That equals to $ 1,82 CDN.

Unhappy

We have slightly higher fuel prices in the UK about €1.43 or 1.96 can$ per litre mainly because of the very high taxes on it.

Dennis can't you pick up a used wheel off of one of the A class models (I'm sure one must fit) from a breakers / scrap yard. I would hate to drive without a spare, you could get a gash in a tyre or even badly damage a rim by accident and your sealant would be useless then.

kdbcom,

Yes, you're right. On average day-to-day trips I son't miss a spare wheel.
But on holidaytrips it does give me a bad feeling.
Do you think a C-Class wheel would fit ? I can find a C-Class spacesaver tyre.

I think it's going to be this offset & internal size over the brake piston housing (brake callipers) that is going to be your problem thats why I suggested the A class wheels quite a few of the components of the A seem common to the B.
