Under the rear seat squab (the double size one) there is a square rubber grommet or bung on the door side of the seat but there is just a square hole (where it looks like a bung should be). It looks horrible and not what one would expect of a M/B.
According to the parts manual there should only be 2 per car one on the big seat & one on the small. A check in 2 dealers has revealed that mine was not just a one off missed part.
A local dealer stated he had sold quite a few of these already so it's not just me who thinks this looks tatty.
Is this a cost cutting exercise by M/B if so I dont think much of it.
If your B class hasn't got one the part number for the British vehicle is 0009981023 and costs about £1 + tax but the cost to M/B must be immeasurable in lack confidence of a quality product.
I would be interested in knowing if German or vehicles exported to other parts of the world have got this ugly hole in the underside of their seats or if us Brits are just the unlucky ones.
Hi
the seat squab ie the underside of the bit you sit on. When you lift the seat up to the vertical position they are in the top left & right of the metal base of the seat. You can see the inside foam of the seat when the square bung is not fitted & it looks awful.
The bungs go on top of the plastic bolts/lugs that come out of the floor these hold the seat at the correct height and stop it going down too far when sat on.
