Hi guys, I have a 2008 s550 sedan. Just recently my vehicle has been having a very bad vibration at highway speeds. The vibration gets even worse when I accelerate to pass up a vehicle on the highway. The sound it makes when I first hit the gas sounds similar to driving on the sleeper lane and only lasts about 1 to 2 seconds. It has been driving me crazy so I have been avoiding the highways as much as I can. I feel it in the center console, seats, and floor board. I asked a few different mechanics and each one drives it and says it's something different. So far I have been told it's the rims and tires which I just had mounted and balanced and that didn't help. I was then told it was the motor mounts, transmission mount, flex discs, center carrier bearing etc.l really just want to get to the real source of the vibration. Anyone else have this problem? If so, what was the cause? Thanks, any help will be much appreciated.
I would carefully inspect the flex disks for cracks or other defects. Lots of threads on forum RE flex disks. One of the flex disks on my '07 E350 began to fail around 80K miles. If you don't know when they were replaced, if ever, they may be due for replacement.
Bringing this back from the dead lol. Did you ever figure out what it was? I have same issue. New mounts (engine/tranny) new flex disk. If I hold the gas and brake and give it some I can the vibration coming through the car. Nothing under stress I checked a million times. Driving me crazy!
Hello Phatbouondiet, Did you ever fine out what was wrong with your car? My 2011 S550 has all the same symptoms and I have replaced all motor mounts and nothing has changed.
Sorry what’s sds? What’s driving me nuts is a misfire would’ve been seen on my scanner. I tried real time data with misfire counter and all cylinders were 0. It’s crazy as soon I move my steering it’ll vibrate super hard and if I keep steering wheel centered it’ll be smooth as butter.
The software doesn't let you accelerate while holding the brake. None of my Mercedes Benz vehicles vibrate, though - they just accelerate very slowly. That is quite a surprise the first time that you try to jump into heavy traffic while accidentally having your foot on the brake!
