Hi, all.
I have an 2007 S550. Recently Ive been getting the malfunction symbol with the arrow pointing up. I already checked for leaks and there is none, also the air pump is working fine. Vehicle is raised up. The last thing i was doing to my vehicle was adjusting the level of suspension and after that the malfunction light came up. So i was wondering after the adjustement do i have to reset some codes with the computer so it can store the new levels or am i looking at a more serious problem, any suggestions would be appreciated. PS I checked all the fuses and they seem to be fine as well.
I am getting the same warning. My front right strut on the 2007 W221 S550 was busted when I bought the car. I replaced the strut. The suspensions stared to work fine but the warning never went away. Then, I started having problems with the same front right strut working intermittently. Sometimes it would rise up, sometimes it wouldn't. I would have to stop the car, turn it off, turn it on and it would rise up again. Sometimes the suspension would go up all the way and make the car so stiff that the ride became very hard.I would feel each and every bump on the road because the struts would have max pressure in them and would not absorb any vibration.
I then again replaced the front right strut. Now, its not going up at all. It can't be a bad strut as it is brand new. So there are two issues now. 1) Either level sensor is not connected properly or has gone bad, or the the rod which connects the rod to the sensor is bent. Since the other struts are inflating properly, the main air compressor is working fine.2) The warning light has always been on regardless of how the struts are behaving.
For Sokolpl: I believe your issue is a bad air distribution block and may need to be replaced. It is located under the right passenger side headlight. You have to remove the front bumper cover and the right headlight to access it.
For Summit Bhasin: I believe your issue is a disconnected wire from a suspension air strut to a wiring harness or may be dirty. It happened to me where the connector under the wheel well got disconnected because the retaining wire had came off and it was partially disconnected. When that happens, your suspension and ride is very hard for all four struts.
