FWIW you don't have to disconnect the battery or get and alignment after.

I have installed several and never had an issue.

Cant believe that Im seeing this pop up on the w221... second time this week actually. Cousin just had the same problem. There has to be a better way than using these crap parts... MB really needs to scrap this whole idea and start with a new, more reliable system. Anyway, Great job with the write up.

THEY ARE WEAR ITEMS. they do this after roughly 80k miles. NO makers will last the life of the car. THINK how much that shock/air bag is moved just during a 1 mile drive. its constantly moving. its made out of rubber so it WILL FAIL.

 

After four days of driving, everything is running very well and back to normal. I would highly recommend these Arnott struts and suspension parts.

The oldest cars are approaching 10 years of age, so I can see DIY becoming much more relevant now.

Did this trigger any code after that?? Did you have to use the STAR diagnosis in order to release air first?

 

Late reply but - No STAR needed and no codes triggered.

You need to tighten the bottom pinch bolts well that is not showing in this instructions. Like really tighten them hard into the strut lower grove.

Did you tighten the bottom screws first then pushed it up into the frame? I'm installing mine, was able to get the passenger side but can't get the bottom screws to sit flush on the ball mount so it's not secured right
