Ok, my new strut came in today and I got busy so here we go. 1st disconnect the battery. Raise the car with a descent floor or use a full lift if you have access to one (I didn't). Please see these pics for semi detailed instructions on replacement.

Took me about 2 hours. Skill level is bout a 6 out of a possible 10 so most people can tackle this job and remember to get your wheel alignment after the end.

Cant believe that Im seeing this pop up on the w221... second time this week actually. Cousin just had the same problem. There has to be a better way than using these crap parts... MB really needs to scrap this whole idea and start with a new, more reliable system. Anyway, Great job with the write up.

THEY ARE WEAR ITEMS. they do this after roughly 80k miles. NO makers will last the life of the car. THINK how much that shock/air bag is moved just during a 1 mile drive. its constantly moving. its made out of rubber so it WILL FAIL.

Great work! This made the first spot on the new DIY Sticky :D

The oldest cars are approaching 10 years of age, so I can see DIY becoming much more relevant now.

Keep the write-ups coming!
