Audio electrical command issues

Ive got a 2008 s550, and I love it, but recently the display and audio have really been acting up. The command or display unit will jump out or switch out of "menus" making it nearly impossible to control anything other than the radio or navi if your lucky enough to get into it. The cd changer is not working, and the audio has loud cracks, pops, and/or tics and fades in and out intermittently.

I took it to the dealer and they said they could not be 100% sure but they thought it might be the voice command module. They want $2600 to replace it. Seems pricey and their not positive it will fix my problems.

I am further led to believe it has something to do with voice command module because after I got it back from the dealer I received and installed a visseo bluetooth phone puck, but I can only hear the person on the other line and they cannot hear me at all.

Any information and experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

One thing to try is disc. both batterys and reconnect them in 5 min.
The other thing would be to try a command software upgrade..

I also have an '08 S550 that I purchased in the last month and having the same issue. It seems to have started a week ago. The comand will jump out of other menus when in Audio screen making it hard to navigate unless you are fast enough. And sometimes it is fine. Also audio cracking/popping noise too.

How do I get to the consumer battery in the truck? Wanting to disconnect the batteries to see if this will reset the issue.

Behind a panel in front of trunk. All your presets on seat, windows, Radio etc will be gone just so you know..
There is a command update that may fix the problem. Its a disk that has to be installed with the Star Diag. System. Talk to your dealer, They upgraded mine at no charge.. took 5 hrs so they had it overnite...

Thx. Are there any screws for the panel removal? Any way to check and see what comand software version I have for comparison? Maybe from the reset service reminder screens, since I did see a bunch of version numbers in there too?

The panel at the trunk behind the rear seats should come off if you put your fingers behind it from the top left corner and pull. But isn't it easier to reset COMAND and other MOST components by removing proper fuses.

I don't think you can see the COMAND SW version without Star diagnosis.

I tried the reset disconnecting both batteries for over 30minutes and no luck. Also the presets did not go away and the car even corrected the analog clock when I initially started.

Also noticed my voice command button on the steering wheel is not working either. It was working when I purchased the car last month. Maybe the voice module possibly. Going to get the car scanned with stars diagnostics soon.

Anyone know where exactly the voice command module is in the trunk?

My 08 is doing the exact samething, started three days ago. I have feeling all our command systems have not suddenly gone bad. I have had issues like these before, sometimes resets work, but usually it means a trip to the dealer.

That seems too coincidental to me too! I still haven't gotten a STARS diagnostic scan to help troubleshoot the issue. I will update as soon as I find something out.
