OK it is an early 722.9 unit and either the transmission is slipping, which I doubt, or you need a new valve body.
Thank you for quick response.
When Transmission fluid was changed we didn't see any metal pieces in pan, so I thought transmission was good. Ill get valve body and post updates.
what is major difference between 722.6 and 722.9 (i'm just curious )
I'm new in MB world and love this community.. want to learn more ))

Thanks

Well one was six speed and one was nine speed, the .9 having two reverse speeds, that is why it is called the 7 G Tronic, ie 7 forward speeds. The problem with the early .9 was the valve body which had the control unit incorporated within the transmission itself.

Problem is this, if you change the valve body then you will need star diagnostics to program the shift points once fitted. It is like a blank brain and needs the shift point adaptation to set it in motion.

It may re-adapt itself with a little driving time but this is hit and miss.

Just talked to MB dealer.
Valve body - $1069 + labor ($1058)
or Valve body kit -$404 + labor($800)
I'm going to get it inspected there for $150 so they can tell me exactly which one I need...

Also found used transmission (in junk yard) for $1000 + installation ($400)

Thank you guys

Avoid the junk yard thinking, this is too complex for me to explain in a short post.

If anyone interested: I just picked up my c230 from dealer, they replaced conduct plate... everything was perfect, on my way home check engine light came on.. after few minutes I started filling shake, like missfire...
Code p0306 missfire, so I'll try replace plugs tomorrow...
I'm still happy for transmission ))
Thanks everyone

Please help! where I can Get # 80 90 110 120 ???

Can I order it from dealer ? Can I get part numbers ?
The screen shot is too small to make any sense of this.

Sorry for that one.
Looks like the front tranny oil seal, you can order it from any MB dealer but it may come in a repair kit so you will get other parts in the kit that you do not need. As for part # use EPC (electronic pars catalogue) and its free to use in the US.

^Then visit your main dealer parts department.

Sorry for that one.
That is not a tranny seal, but the output bearing because part 90 (the cerclip) holds the bearing, so in your case if the shaft wobbly you will need part 80 and the output seal(part 110) out of the reduction section(for the 4matic tranny), but and transmission shop doing this work needs to replace the output(120 part) nut too as it is really one time use....

I rebuild these, so that is the process..

Yeah... mine is leaking there... so I thought its just a seal but than I touched the shaft and I can see a little play. (or that little play is ok ? )

So can I get this parts from dealer ? Spent couple hour yesterday on web and couldn't find anything with part #.

Hi,

I have had my '06 S430 (W220, but I think trannies are similar) for about 6 months now (bought at 102K miles). I'm not sure if the transmission is 722.6 or 722.9 (I think it is .6). I have attached my carfax and carinfo pdf here.

So, for the past 6 months, the car has a noticeable shift when going from gears 1-2, 2-3, 3-2, and 2-1. It has stalled once after exiting freeway and stopping at ramp light for a brief moment before accelerating again. It was like the car was revving, but no actual gear shift/acceleration. It wasn't in limp mode after that because it started shifting perfectly after I stopped and started the car again. There are no check engine codes either.

I did the adaptive transmission reset by depressing the gas pedal for 30s and then leaving the key in for about 2 minutes. It works fine for a few days, but then goes back to noticeable shifting.

It doesn't look like the transmission fluid and filter has been changed. That's on my to-do plan during next service. Just want to get your guys' opinions on whether this is a problem to be looked into.

I'm considering buying a used Mercedes with the 722.9 transmission and I really like the idea of using the adaptation values to give some indication of the transmission health. Don't know what would be considered good values though, it would seem like any value that's not near or at the lower or upper range of possible values. SVB can you provide any more details about the expected range of values that would be considered "healthy" values? Thanks
