You do not mention your location - MBUSA covers repairs for one year/unlimited mileage. If adaptation (reprogramming) was done less than one year ago and problem persists leading one to believe it was misdiagnosed have the dealer revisit.

 

Thanks for your warranty advice. However, I am preparing (budgeting?) for the worse, and as the car itself has no factory warranty anymore, I wanted to try to figure out the culprit and the approximate repair cost to be covered out-of-pocket.

 

An 07 should still be under warranty. How many miles on your car? If you have a warranty take it to any MB Dealer and they will take care of it.

With these cars it is usually the programming or the valve body/both and it often depends on the mileage rather than age. What is the mileage?

Problem Solved!

The dealership reprogrammed the software on the 7 G-tronic once again. This time, they changed the transmission fluid and the transmission filter. Happy to report that the problem is finally solved. The car runs as new. Thanks all for your concern.

I not 100% sure but I have a 2008 s550 4matic with 115 .000 km ,, I feel it does not down shit but then I ask my self how is that possible if it goes from 1-2-3-4-5 gear when I stop and go !!! I never ownd a Mercedes before and maybe I am wrong , it is just the way it feels !! Any advise ??

Have the fault codes read out and this will show if there is a real problem or not and when was the fluid last changed?

 

Thx Eric ; but do u mean it will come out on the dash (no ) or shall I go to the dealer and ask them to pull it.,, I called a dealer and asked the service guy to pull the history of the trani but he said sorry I can't for privacy issues !!!!!

So how would I know if the trani or any thing else was done and needed to be done!!

It feels that it does not shift or stock but it does when I stop on a light and go,, I count the shifts and they are nice and smooth .

I am very careful about my cars and maybe I am just being too careful !!

 

No not on the dash, they need to connect the diagnostic equipment to the 16 pin connecter under the drivers side dash.

If they find transmission fault codes then yes there is a problem. If they do not find transmission fault codes then MAYBE there is no problem.
