Just Picked up 2010 S550--pics

Hey all,

I have been using this forum for its vast amounts of knowledge and
expertise for quite some time but I just recently signed up.

I have been fortunate enough to pickup the new 2010 S550 this past
week after selling my 2007 S550 sport. I have yet to blackout the taillights
and add all-around tints.

I have uploaded them and provided photobucket links for a few photos
I hope you enjoy the pics.

PS- interior build quality and ride quality is a vast improvement. The exhaust
note is also more distinct. Will add more information on the exact differences
between the 2010 and the pre-facelifted 221's.

Hey guys,

Here is my full review of the 2010 S550 comparisons with the 2007-2009 S550's. I'll break it down in sections.

Exterior
New side lights, rear taillights have cool LED design, new larger mirrors like on the C-class. Front is sharper, led lights. Noise when car locks/unlocks like on bmw. Square exhaust.

Trunk
Same. Different floor organizer handle. No more umbrella holder!!

Driver seat
All seats have diff stitching pattern, thicker wood steering wheel, light control only pulls towards you once for rear fog, can't control led lights in the front lower bumper. Panoramic roof shade is express, as is sunroof and shade closer (had to hold down on the 2007)
Nightvision has a detection system for people similar to new digital cameras have face recognition.
Center console is all wood. No more top storage, only large lower center storage with a center divider.
SD card slot, usb aux and ipod connector in the glovebox. No more esp off button. Brought back the airmatic symbol to iniate airmatic sport or comfort. Ps- car always starts in c, even when turned off in s so as to save fuel.
Paddle shifters are larger than 2007 (but same compared to 2009's)
No more mute button, instead they moved the star key (but can't program it for mute, what the heck?)
Dashboard
No more esp ! symbol. Now its a yellow car swerving. A "P" in in the speedometer that turns blue when car detects a parking spot. Aid in parking (ideal location to keep steering wheel when backing up---awesome!) Consumption gauge. Better window switches. Separate button for either mirror to adjust.

COMAND
Audio
Can copy music to hardrive. Better sound quality. I believe they added an additional speaker---def. sounds lounder than 2007.
Navi
New 3D view option (besides birdseye) new icons, topographical map in cities, slightly better destination input. Zagat and quick overview of some POI's. Different navigation voice. Better graphics.

Now ambient lighting in blue, white and original orangish color


The Drive
Smooth! Car feels larger...maybe because I'm driving more cautiously and because the steering wheel is thicker. Sharp exhaust note. No more kickdown button behind the gas pedal. Perfect suspension, not sure if they tweaked it a bit. Big rear brakes I believe.

I'm sure I missed something but if anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer them.

First of all, congratulations on the beautiful new car!

I actually have one on order as well (expecting 01/2010 delivery), so I have a question. Did you get the Night View Assist Plus option? If so, is it much better than the '09 MY version? I tried it some time ago on a '09 S550, and it made me very dizzy. Furthermore, I couldn't really concentrate on both the display and the road, so I decided to not order it as an option on my '10 S550. Now I'm wondering whether it has changed significantly enough to make me re-consider and add it (the car still hasn't been manufactured).

Nice review and pics! Do you notice any difference in seat comfort? Where is the consumption gauge that you mentioned, is it integrated with the speedo?

The upgraded nightvision only has some sort of feature where it detects humans or animals in the dark and puts them within a box sort of like how
new digital cameras place faces of people in a box under the "face recognition"
option. Basically, nightvision is a waste but is an awesome gawk-at feature.
I only have it on my car because the vehicle I choose most closely resembled
my previous 2007 S550.

I didn't have the seat package on my 2007 besides the heated/cooled seats and lumbar support so the new dynamic massage seats are probably the best
upgrade feature in the car. The seats are exceptionally comfortable, are really hug your body when you adjust it to do so, much like the bmw 7-series except you really feel the high quality craftsmanship in the design.

The consumption gauge is two upclicks from the mileage screen. Shows mpg as a horizontal bar and the mileage range right below it.

Congratulations! I like the new steering wheel. Have you noticed that the rear seat cushion is slightly elevated from the 2007-09s? You don't feel as sunken into the seat.

Thanks for info! I assume it doesn't make any kind of warning noise when detecting something that looks like a human or animal, right? If so, I'm going to pass on it. I really like the car, so the "gee whiz" factor is not that important to me ;-) I got the following options:
