S550 Oil Change Interval Changed

Does anybody know why the '07 had a 13K oil change interval but the '09 has a 10K interval?

I don't know but could it be because of the simplified service program where only two options exist. One program at 10 000 miles or a year, then every 20 000 miles or two years. The other one at first 20 000 miles or 2 years and then every 20 000 miles or two years.

Simply put, 13K is too long on this engine, 10k is better. In China we are using DAS to shorten the service to 8K as these engines need more frequent oil service.

The balance shaft gear in the center of the engine will develop abnormal wear if the oil is not changed regularly and this could, at worst, result in engine replacement and at best an engine rebuild.

I do not wish to worry you here and as long as you change the oil on a regular basis, all should be ok.

You are in Europe DB so you tell us what the policy on this change was in Europe. But here it was not changed for all models.
