Hi everyone, new to the forum here. I just purchased an 09 s550 and was wondering why on this fairly expensive vehicle why there is no 'scan' feature on the radio? The salesman said there isn't this feature when he was showing me the car and quickly changed the subject. I always liked the auto scan... plus every car from a mazda 3 to my old 525 has it. Didn't mercedes think people don't constantly want to manually 'wheel' or press 'presets' to find a station?

I don't use it but of course there is an option to search and store stations automatically. Why do you believe a salesman (who already got the deal), why not read the user manual?

You can also scroll to the next station (or the next preset if you wish) from the steering wheel buttons.
I know of the options that you just stated but that is not what I am looking for. You know in other cars you hit the 'scan' button and it will go to the next station, pause, then go to the next until you hit the scan button.. In the mercedes you have to constantly hit the steering wheel or command wheel to mve to the next station rather than the stereo 'automatically' skipping stations until you find the song you want.

OK, I see now what you are after. I believe MB thought that is too distracting when driving. I would not be happy to leave the time per channel for the radio anyway, some channels you want to listen longer than others when searching for your favourite.
Why not put your favourite music to the memory card and you don't have to use the search button at all?
