SATELLITE RADIO QUESTION

Looking at 2007 S550 I didnt see satellite radio from factory, do I have to buy aftermarket or can dealer install it.

factory sat can be retrofitted to the 07 S550 for sure ( i have doen it many times). problem is that dealers keep telling people that its impossible. ask your dealer to do it (if you want) but if they say that they cant then you may have to go to a specialist to get it done...

Several MB dealers that we sell to, are telling us recently that they are buying our parts now because MB corporate discontinued the SAT parts. So if you can get the factory parts, its usually $1300 plus installation. Our kit can also go in for $800 plus install - its basically the same to the end user.

Just go aftermarket. It makes no sense to throw in excess of $1000 into a sat radio installation. You will never see any of that money back upon resale/trade. With aftermarket you can move the receiver to other cars and also into your house, without getting changed more. You can also easily upgrade the receiver and have more features, such as being able to record or pause.
